There are American made cars as long-lasting and iconic than the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro. Both came about in the golden era of muscle cars and have continued to attract car aficionados to this very day. Not only do these two vehicles attract a lot of love, they also attract their fair share of debate and disagreement over which car is better.American made is something we pride ourselves on here and both Ford and General Motors have a long and proud history of employing Americans and making great vehicles. It's no surprise that there are so many people that pit these two historic giants against each other in heated debate, so which one is actually better?Ford has a strong case for the Mustang being the winner of this debate as they haven't skipped a production year of the Mustang since it's first model year in 1965. Chevrolet, on the other hand, took a small breather from the Camaro to refocus at the end of the 2002 model year and then reintroduced it again in 2010
Both modern designs are sleek upgrades with hints of the past reflected in their designs and multiple options for engine sizes. It's honestly neck and neck between the two iconic muscle car pioneers. The Mustang has the slight edge for not missing a model year and because the Camaro doesn't have the name Shelby attached to it. Legendary automotive designer and race car driver, Carroll Shelby, took the Ford Mustang and engineered the ever living shit out of it, turning the Shelby Mustang into one of the most sought-after muscle cars in existence to this very day.
We're going to have to give this competition to the Ford Motor Company and the iconic Mustang. With almost everything else being similar performance and cost wise (base models), the Mustang has had the staying power and the name of the great Carroll Shelby attached to it. The Camaro just can't compete.
(Cue all the sad MOPAR fans)
