We do a lot of stories about the brave men and women who've fought for our nation. How proud we are of them! But we would be remis if we didn't include the other mammals who fought alongside those brave men and women, who became their best friends. Taba was one such hero. That's right ladies and gentleman, today we're doing a story on man's best friend with a nose that saves lives.Taba is a nine-year-old Dutch Shepard and boy was she a good girl. During her time in the Army, working as a Multi-Purpose Canine, she was assigned to an Army special forces team. She detected IED's (improvised explosive devices), tracked bad guys and patrolled with her handler. For two years she worked her four little paws off. Countless raids and bad men bit (we're assuming) later, Taba was allowed to retire. She was adopted by a former K-9 police officer where she enjoys her days lounging around being loved by her new family, much the same way she was loved by her operator family. In a world full of keyboard warriors who think they're hot shit, Taba really was a hardcore operator. It did take it's toll on her body though. A previous injury to one of her rear legs saw that leg amputated. Despite her amputation, you can tell by her smile that she is loved by her new family and enjoys the lazy days she has ahead of her.

Taba

For her bravery and service to the nation, Taba was awarded the K-9 Medal of Courage, by American Humane. It is the highest honor a military working dog can receive. No doubt Taba has earned it and more as she kept her Army family safe and greatly contributed to their success.

Taba

Taba, you're a good girl.
