Headlines read "U.S. Getting Ass Kicked in Wargames by Russia and China!" Cue the pandemonium and freak out by most people. Are they done yet? We'll wait......Ok, cool. Here is the thing. Most of the wargames that are set up are done so with expressed intent to make us lose. This happens all the time to develop and rethink tactics, find weaknesses in equipment and a whole host of other shit as well. The theme and purpose is so blatant and obvious in these war games that even Star Trek made a point to include such a scenario in their universe, it was the Kobayashi Maru. A no-win scenario that was geared to test the character of Starfleet cadets. Will Russia and China be able to take on the United States and make us their little baby back bitches? No. Neither of them has enough blue water naval resources to mount an invasion of the United States. Mutual Assured Destruction still exists via the nuclear triad, and honestly who wants to fight Americans in our own streets when we have a shitload of firearms in civilian hands? Nobody. We're not saying everyone would fight, but fighting any indigenous personnel in their terrain has proven to be difficult...we can't quite put our finger on who...learned that lesson (cough Russia, cough United States, coughFrance). In case you didn't catch the sarcasm there, that was sarcasm. The truth is this. Don't worry because we're getting our ass kicked in simulations. They're supposed to kick our ass to make us better. For those of you that have been in fist fights, what did you learn from winning? Very little right? What'd you learn from getting your ass kicked? A whole shitload right? Same principle applies here. We lose here in simulations that are sometimes unwinnable so that we learn more in the long run. It's the cyber/simulator equivalent to the more you sweat in training the less you bleed in combat. Don't be worried. We're fine.
