Earlier this week, a jet crashed outside of Moscow, killing ten passengers. Among those dead is thought to be warlord, mercenary, Wagner chief, and master of disguise, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Wagner chief, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

This “accident” is clearly not related to the fact that Prigozhin is Vladimir Putin’s newest public frenemy #1. The reports of antiaircraft fire shortly before the crash are probably unrelated.

This death coming a month after falling out with a man whose adversaries continually meet tragic ends is purely coincidental. Russian state media did not cite any foul play, and they are an extremely reliable source…

Sure, a Russian tycoon fell out the window of a hotel in India after sending a WhatsApp message criticizing the Russo-Ukrainian war. Maybe he was just clumsy?

Since Putin came to office, an alarming number of journalists may have been killed hitman style, but don’t blame Vlad, nobody likes a reporter.

Maybe the murder of his opposition in 2015 is a little fishy, but don’t all politicians have skeletons in their closets?

Even if Putin does have blood on his hands from the past, him killing a close confidant turned back stabber is way too far-fetched. Come on, all Prigozhin did was criticize Russian war efforts, call for the ousting of Putin, and stage an uprising in Moscow before resurfacing in Africa.  Friends have fights.  That isn’t enough to piss off a vertically challenged dictator with delusions of grandiosity.  Take off your tinfoil hats people.

It is unclear whether Prigozhin was wearing his costume with an uncanny resemblance to a Sasha Baron-Cohen character when he died. On a side note, hours after his death was announced, the head of Zelensky’s office posted the audio of ACDC’s “Highway to Hell” on his telegram channel.

An elaborate ruse?

Purely speculating, what if Prigozhin wanted everyone to think he was on that flight? The main reason people think he's dead is because he was listed as a passenger, but could that paperwork have been forged?

Could Prigozhin have feared for his life and faked his death to avoid Putin's wrath? Is he really sipping Moscow Mules in Fiji with all the money he made for the war?

To add an extra layer of intrigue, what if Putin knows? This deadly game of spy versus spy could just be starting. Only time will tell.
